How to Extend the Life of Your Scented Candles

How to Extend the Life of Your Scented Candles

Love candles?

The way they light up the space and add a touch of positivity is what makes them a perfect decor element.

They also fill the space with delightful aromas and create a relaxing environment, making them a great addition to any home or office space.

But what if it burns out too quickly?

Isn't it frustrating?

Well, there is a possibility of lengthening its duration of use.

With proper care, you can easily extend the life of your favorite candle.

So, let us jump right in and understand the ways to make the candles last longer.

Keep Wicks Trimmed.

Buy why? Longer wick gives off a bigger flame. It also cause the flame to flicker resulting in uneven wax melt, wasted wax, and excess smoke that affects the candle’s fragrance.

Ideal size -  1/4 inches above the level of the wax.

Keep The Candle Clean.

Keeping your candles clean from accumulation of dust, dirt, and other debris on the surface of the wax improves their performance & also enhances the longevity of their fragrance.

So, take a moment to gently wipe off any dust or particles from the top.

    Rotate Your Candles.

      Consider rotating your candles regularly.

Burning the same candle every day can lead to uneven usage and faster depletion of your favorite scents.

Also, rotating your candles lets you enjoy a variety of fragrances depending on your mood or the season.

      Pick The Right Location.

Keep your candles away from windows, fans, or air vents as it can cause the flame to flicker and burn unevenly.

Better to keep them in a stable, draft-free area to promote a steady, even burn, maximizing the life of your candle and ensuring the fragrance is evenly dispersed throughout the room.

Do Not Let Your Candle Burn For More Then 2-4 Hours.

          1. To ensure your scented candle burns evenly and lasts longer, avoid letting it burn for more than 2-4 hours at a time (depending on the diameter)
          2. Burning a candle for extended periods can cause the wick to become too large. This leads to excessive heat and a larger flame, which can burn the wax unevenly and produce soot.
          3. Prolonged burning can overheat the wax and affect the fragrance quality.
          4. For optimal performance, limit each burn to 2-4 hours, allowing the candle to cool and solidify before relighting.

          Let It Pool.

Before extinguishing the flame, allow the melted wax to form a pool evenly around the wick.

            This helps to:

            • Ensure an even burn.
            • Prevent tunneling (where the wick burns straight down, creating a tunnel effect).
            • Maximize the use of wax.
            • Reduce waste.

A good rule - Depending on the diameter of the candle, let it burn for 2-4 hours. This will allow the melted wax to form a pool evenly around the wick, extending the life of your candle and allowing you to enjoy its fragrance for a longer time.

            How to Store Candles Appropriately

            • Keep in a Cool, Dark Place: Store candles away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent melting or discoloration of the wax.
            • Avoid Humidity: Choose a dry location to prevent moisture from affecting the candle’s quality and scent.
            • Use a Cover: If possible, cover your candles with their lids or wrap them in protective materials to keep out dust and debris.
            • Use Original Packaging: If you still have the original packaging, it can provide extra protection and help maintain the candle’s condition.

By following these simple yet effective tips, you can ensure your scented candles burn evenly, last longer, and continue to fill your space with delightful fragrances.

            Happy Candle Moments! :)
